ABOUT US
Huckaby's Golden Retrievers is a small, in-home breeder, located in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. We breed for exceptional temperament and health, maintaining the highest possible standards with clearances for hips, elbows, eyes and heart, along with full genetic testing to ensure I don't breed puppies that are affected by any of the genetic diseases common in Golden Retrievers.
Huckaby's Golden Retriever puppies are raised in-home and under-foot from day one. We focus on early socialization and problem prevention, raising our puppies to be calm enrichment seekers, ready to take on life's challenges with love and joy to spare.
When it comes to raising our puppies, I utilize a very thorough and thoughtful protocol for early socialization, desensitization, and counterconditioning. Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) start at 3 days old. Potty training is introduced at 3 weeks, crate training is introduced at 4 weeks, and I imprint a default safety recall with all of my litters. These are just a handful of the techniques I utilize. Rest assured, the fun doesn't stop there. We also introduce car rides, each puppy gets one on one daily bonding time with my family, they are safely socialized with humans of as many ages as possible, spend time with our other dogs and our resident cat, Blue, along with countless other ways in which I ensure our puppies experience as much as possible before leaving for their forever homes.
We only have one litter at a time so that I'm able to fully devote myself to ensuring each individual puppy gets endless amounts of love, daily one on one bonding time, and all of the early socialization required in order to raise healthy, happy, well adjusted puppies! For their first 8 weeks, these puppies are raised with all the love and care as though they were my own.

Please note: we do not sell our puppies with full registration and will not allow anyone to purchase a puppy from us without either meeting us in person or FaceTiming so that we are able to "meet" virtually. We also require speaking with all adults in the home to ensure everyone is on board with the decision to add one of our wonderful puppies to your family.

Am I The Right Breeder For You?
This is something only you can determine. I encourage every family to do their research before choosing which breeder is right for them. Here are some facts about my breeding program and how I raise my puppies:
Our puppy parents are health-tested with clearances for hips, elbows, heart and eyes.
Our puppy parents are genetically tested to ensure the puppies aren’t affected by any of the diseases common to the golden retriever breed.

Our puppies are exposed to various stimuli starting with ENS at 3 days old:
Our puppies are born in my bedroom, about 5 feet away from my bed, where they spend their first 3.5-4 weeks of life before being moved into our living room. I don’t leave their side for the first 2 weeks.
Our puppies are raised under foot, in our home, where they are interacted with and endlessly loved throughout each day, and their entire first 8 weeks of life.
I offer all potential puppy families the option of coming to meet the puppies, myself, my family, and the other dogs in person in order to see where and how your future puppy is being raised.
I want my puppy families to have peace of mind, and to know they should never hesitate to contact me at any time, for the entire life of that dog. I will always get back to you, whether it’s 2 minutes after you leave with your new puppy, or 10 years down the road.
I want my puppy families to understand and be confident in the fact that I put all of my dogs' happiness and well-being as my first priority, ahead of my breeding program. These are my four-legged babies, first and foremost.
My mamas are only bred a maximum of 3 to 4 times in their life.
My goal is to form long lasting relationships with my puppy families and I am still in contact with all of my puppy families. I love these babies first, and each and every one of them takes a piece of my heart with them when they go ❤️
If at any point, you are no longer able to properly care for your dog, I will always take them back, no questions asked, so that I never contribute to the homeless dog population.
